Acupuncture Reduces Arthritis Inflammation Through Gene Regulation

acupuncture immune system gene25

New evidence finds acupuncture effective for the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis (RA) by regulating immune-system genes that control inflammation. The research maps how acupuncture affects gene networks involved in RA. The analysis identifies five genes—STAT1, GAPDH, JAK2, PTGS2, and MDM2—that appear to be centrally involved in the therapeutic effects associated with acupuncture. [1]

Acupuncture Eases Depression, Boosts Brain Function Review

Acupuncture demonstrates consistent clinical benefit for reducing depressive symptom severity across diverse patient groups, according to a comprehensive systematic review conducted at Heilongjiang University of Chinese Medicine. The review synthesizes thirty-seven randomized controlled trials and extensive mechanistic studies, concluding that acupuncture—through both manual acupuncture and electroacupuncture—produces measurable improvements in depression severity, sleep quality, cognitive function in certain populations, and neurobiological markers relevant to mood regulation. Acupuncture Incontinence Recovery After Prostate Surgery Confirmed

A randomized clinical trial reports that a six-week course of acupuncture at nearly doubled urinary continence recovery rates in men with persistent incontinence one month after radical prostatectomy, compared with a rigorously blinded sham procedure. [1] This randomized clinical trial shows that electroacupuncture accelerated recovery from urinary continence after prostatectomy while maintaining a strong safety profile. The results support integrating electroacupuncture into multimodal rehabilitation to improve early recovery and reduce urinary incontinence.

Herbs for Diabetic Foot Ulcer Healing Validated

Researchers identified multiple bioactive compounds and molecular targets through which Si Miao Yong An Tang (Four-Valiant Decoction for Well Being, 四妙勇安汤) promotes healing of diabetic foot ulcers (DFU). The study applied network pharmacology and molecular docking to clarify how this classical formula exerts anti-inflammatory, pro-angiogenic, and tissue-repair effects across interconnected signaling pathways. Acupuncture Provides Sustained Migraine Relief

Acupuncture provides sustained relief for patients with migraine without aura. A multicenter randomized controlled trial, conducted by Mingsheng Sun and colleagues at Chengdu University of Traditional Chinese Medicine, compared manual acupuncture with non-penetrating sham acupuncture (NPA) at identical acupoints across four university-affiliated hospitals in China. The results confirm that needling penetration and manipulation are critical to long-term therapeutic efficacy. [1]

Acupuncture Found Effective For Hives

A systematic review and meta-analysis conducted at Hunan University of Chinese Medicine and Zhejiang Chinese Medical University found that manual acupuncture provides significant therapeutic benefit for chronic spontaneous urticaria (CSU). In six randomized controlled trials involving 615 participants, four weeks of standardized manual acupuncture significantly reduced urticaria activity, anxiety, depression, and sleep disturbance compared with sham or non-acupuncture controls. Integrative Acupuncture & Herbal Medicine for Lung Cancer

Comprehensive evidence from the Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine demonstrates that integrative protocols combining acupuncture and multi-herbal therapy with chemotherapy significantly improve survival quality, immune modulation, and tumor control in patients with non-small-cell lung cancer (NSCLC).[1] A meta-analysis of randomized trials revealed consistent increases in objective response rate (ORR), Karnofsky Performance Status (KPS), and T-cell ratios when traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) modalities supplemented standard oncologic regimens.[1–3]

Acupuncture Improves Quality of Life in IBS Patients, Tianjin University Research Confirms

Tianjin University of Traditional Chinese Medicine researchers demonstrate that acupuncture improves quality of life and reduces symptom severity in patients with irritable bowel syndrome (IBS). The research analyzed data from fourteen randomized controlled trials including 2,038 participants and determined that thirty-minute acupuncture sessions performed five or fewer times per week for four weeks yielded the most consistent benefit for IBS patients [1]. We’ll take a close look at the acupuncture points shown to produce optimal patient outcomes.
