All HealthCMi courses are pre-approved by the NCCAOM for Diplomate PDAs and are automatically credited to the NCCAOM for you. NCCAOM acupuncture continuing education points are referred to as PDAs (Professional Development Activity Points) and 1 PDA = 1 CEU.
HealthCMi offers acupuncture online courses that are pre-approved for NCCAOM Diplomate recertification credit towards the special Safety, Ethics, and CPR category requirements.
HealthCMi courses fulfill the NCCAOM Core requirements in our online classroom environment. The online classroom is an “in-classroom” activity by NCCAOM standards and therefore all PDAs (CEUs) may be obtained online at HealthCMi for NCCAOM Diplomate recertification.
Diplomates must fulfill Core Acupuncture & Oriental Medicine (AOM) requirements for PDAs (CEUs). The core AOM category is divided into several sub-categories, all are equally accepted to fulfill core requirements. There is no special requirement to get a certain number of PDAs in any one of the sub-categories listed below:
HealthCMi courses fulfill core AOM requirements. HealthCMi provides courses that fulfill all NCCAOM PDA requirements in all categories:
HealthCMi is the first online continuing education provider authorized for use of the new NCCAOM automated certificate system. As a result, all of your certificates of completion are automatically uploaded into the NCCAOM online portal. When renewing your NCCAOM diplomate certification online, course completions will already be loaded into the NCCAOM system and you will not need to upload certificate files or add information. (The only exceptions are CPR courses, which the NCCAOM does not include in their automated system. For CPR courses, simply upload your HealthCMi certificate.)
Your HealthCMi certificate of completion is available immediately upon course completion and the NCCAOM sends an NCCAOM branded version of your certificate to you shortly thereafter. This is how the new NCCAOM automated system works. You get your certificates in your email inbox for your personal storage and they are already in the NCCAOM renewal system. With the new NCCAOM CEU/PDA process, HealthCMi makes sure there is no need to upload certificates of completion into their system when renewing your diplomate certification. At HealthCMi, we make sure all of that work is done for you!
The NCCAOM no longer assigns PDA numbers to CPR courses. All HealthCMi CPR courses fulfill the NCCAOM CPR requirement and HealthCMi CPR certificates work with with the NCCAOM online Diplomate renewal system. For all HealthCMi CPR courses, 4 PDAs/CEUs are awarded.
New NCCAOM CPR Course Policy
HealthCMi automatically uploads all certificates of completion to the NCCAOM system for you, with only one exception. New NCCAOM policy requires Diplomates to manually upload CPR certificates to the NCCAOM system. The NCCAOM policy applies to all CPR courses from all CPR course providers. Simply download the CPR certificate from HealthCMi (you also get a copy sent to you automatically via email) and upload it into their renewal system. All HealthCMi CPR courses are worth 4 PDAs toward your NCCAOM Diplomate CPR renewal requirement.
At HealthCMi, we work closely with the NCCAOM to make sure you get the correct CEUs/PDAs that you need. If you have not renewed your NCCAOM certification and 3–12 years has passed, your certification is termed lapsed. If your NCCAOM certification has lapsed for over 12 years, your certification is in the terminated category. There are different requirements for each category.
If you would like to inquire about special discounts for 120 PDAs or more, please select the support menu option and then contact us. Let us know how many PDAs you need and the best way to reach you.
For lapsed NCCAOM certifications of less than 12 years, all HealthCMi courses can be used without any concern for subcategories (except for 1 safety, 1 ethics, 1 CPR). All HealthCMi courses are approved by the NCCAOM in the core category (AOM). As a result, simply take one safety, one ethics, and one CPR course at HealthCMi plus any other courses to fulfill your remaining PDA/CEU requirement total. There is no need to differentiate between AOM-OM (Oriental Medicine Foundation & Theory), AOM-AC (Acupuncture), AOM-CH (Chinese Herbal Medicine), and AOM-BIO (Biomedicine). Any AOM course in any category (AOM-OM, AOM-CH, AOM-AC, AOM-BIO) fulfills the requirements. As a result, select any HealthCMi courses of your choosing.
Here is what PDAs are needed to reinstate:
For certifications that are being renewed after having lapsed for over 12 years, this is now in the terminated NCCAOM category and the 300 PDA reinstatement requirement is as follows:
The special category requirements for herbs, acupuncture, and biomedicine only apply to renewing a license if it has been more than 12 years lapsed. Please note, after June 30, 2022, the NCCAOM requires an additional assessment that they provide for reinstatement of both lapsed and terminated certifications. Prior to that date, no additional assessment is required.
